It goes without saying that we are insured, DBS checked, canine first aid trained and have both completed canine behaviour courses, we also hold animal transportation licenses with Defra, all things you would expect from the professional service provider, so lets tell you a little bit about us personally.....
I’ve always loved animals and taking care of them is my passion, I can not imagine life without a dog. I started Telford Pet Services (formally Telford Dog Walking) in 2011 after I was unhappy with the services offered within the town when looking for someone to care for my two Labradors. I had previously worked in the NHS and for a small association event and meeting planning. As a family we had Collie's and cats growing up, as well as a number of small furries. Jackson, my high energy rescue Labrador, and Maizy, my Siamese cross cat (and the real boss of the household) make me laugh everyday, and I love training Jackson, he always amazes me with his skills - he loves scent work and is the only thing that tires him out.
After walking all week, weekends are spent either napping on the sofa, visiting family 'up't north' or tidying up after my two teenagers. We also love to travel and holidays are spent exploring the fantastic west coast of Scotland so Jackson can join us too.
If that wasn't enough I am currently in my final year of a degree in Animal Welfare and Behaviour at Harper Adams University in Newport, I am a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants and the candidate member of the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians. I enjoy working with owners to help animal live happy, relaxed lives and assisting with training and behavioural needs.
I met Keely 7 years ago when she became the dog walker for my two blue merle Collies, Logan and Ziggy. I was quite envious that she got to spend time with them in the day whilst I was stuck in the office behind a computer………………so last year we decided to team up and haven’t looked back.
My background is in managing services for people with learning disabilities and I have also been the assistant manager (admin) at Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury and Supervisor at Hillbrae rescue kennels in Cold Hatton. I have experience of a variety of breeds of dogs, from large to tiny, and also different temperaments; boisterous, timid and reactive dogs. I compete at agility and am a member of ‘Absolutely Barking Agility Addicts’ and ‘Ready to Run Agility UK’.
My breed of choice is (obviously!) collies, I have had 3 before these two and also been privileged to have a rescued Staffie too. He was such a character! I have been brought up around cats, dogs, rabbits, horses and ponies and whilst at Hilbrae encountered chickens, turkeys and Rheas.
Animals, and all animal welfare is my passion, so at the weekends when I am not competing at agility with my two you can often find me volunteering for various animal welfare charities. Oh…..and I have an addiction to ginger nuts!!
